During these times, bee activity is significantly reduced, as most bees are inactive and have returned to their hives for the night or are not yet out foraging in the early morning. This timing minimizes the risk of exposure for bees to harmful chemicals, as they are less likely to come into contact with the pesticide just after it's been applied.

Midday, when bees are actively foraging for food, poses a higher risk as they are out in the environment, exposing themselves to the pesticides. Applying pesticides on warm sunny days can also be detrimental, as high temperatures can increase the activity of bees.

Rainy conditions may seem counterintuitive because it could wash away the pesticides; however, bees tend to stay in their hives during rain, making it less likely for them to be exposed.
